Jewish Care opens doors on nine-storey Melbourne aged care home – RADs up to $1.5M

1 min read

93 residents from its Montefiore Homes aged care home which previously occupied the site moved into the 156-bed Hannah & Daryl Cohen Family Building in St Kilda, 6km from the Melbourne CBD, at the end of last month.

Billed as a new era in Australian aged care, the building features seven levels of residential aged care and two levels of community services, including health and medical facilities, financial services, rehabilitation services, a day therapy centre, employment service, education facilities and social spaces.

Each of the aged care levels is built around Jewish Care’s Hand-in-Hand or small household model of support, with two memory care friendly houses of no more than 16 beds.

RADs will range from $550,000 for the Traditional Room up to $1 million for the Classic Room and up to $1.5 million for the Choice Room, with two premium services packages priced at $20 and $50 a day respectively.

There is also a dedicated synagogue, succah, private dining room, and kosher café for residents and their families to celebrate festivals and events.

The aged care home is the first stage of the larger Holckner Family Senior Living & Community Precinct, with a second stage expected to include retirement living, a cultural hub, gym, restaurant and café, seniors clubroom and other amenities.
