The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC) is seeking immediate feedback from operators on its proposals to recover costs from the sector starting next month.
Since 1 January 2020, businesses have been applying to the ACQSC to be assessed for suitability to become an approved provider.
In the 2021-22 Budget, the Federal Government decided that those businesses will be charged a fee to recover the costs of the assessment of their application. Additionally, further costs will be recovered from applicants who fail to provide all evidence requested prior to the application being submitted.
The cost recovery fees are defined by the number of care types being applied for and any request for further information during the assessment process.
The regulator wants the fees to be paid on making the application.
