A $25 million redevelopment and expansion of aged care provider Clayton Church Homes’ 25-room facility Summerhills in Uraidla in Adelaide Hills has been approved by the South Australian State Commission Assessment Panel.
The existing facility will be demolished and replaced by a 4,000sqm 60-room residential aged care home, including a 16-bed memory support unit for residents with cognitive impairments, a library, café, cinema, community room, pop-up store, hairdresser, gym, and a family sleepover room for visiting guests. The redevelopment designed by Adelaide architects Brown Falconer will be the largest in Uraidla’s history.
Clayton Church Homes’ CEO Daniel Aitchison said the concept for the new Summerhills was achieved after several rounds of community, staff, resident and family consultation.
Construction is expected to start later this year and be completed in early 2023.
