NT operator withdraws from aged care services in the Gulf

1 min read

Gidgee Healing has announced it will cease managing its aged care services in the Gulf of Carpentaria due to staff shortages and underfunding, according to the ABC. Management will cease by 30 June this year.

Gidgee Healing has been managing the 15-bed Kukatja Place aged care centre in Normanton, the 10-bed Ngooderi House in Doomadgee, and the 15-bed Kuba Natha Hostel on Mornington Island since 2021.

The withdrawal means Gidgee is the second health service in recent years to withdraw from aged care services in those regions.
