Opal Aged Care opens $41M Blacktown facility

The 149-bed facility in Blacktown’s CBD, 34km west of the CBD, is part of a $300 million investment by the operator on eight new homes across western Sydney.

The other locations include Bankstown, Toongabbie, Winston Hills, Penrith, Wentworthville and Cabramatta.

The Blacktown facility also features a specialist memory support unit with a landscaped sensory garden.

Aged care shock: Fed Govt cuts COVID-19 supplement by 40% as vaccination rate languishes

In a surprise move, the Aged Care Outbreak Management Support Supplement available to Government-funded aged care homes has been cut from $2.81 per day per bed, the rate received per bed per day until the end of December 2024, to only $1.65 per bed per day.
