Presbyterian Aged Care sells off most of its NSW assets to Anglicare

2 min read

Anglicare Sydney is taking over most of Presbyterian Aged Care’s (PAC) NSW assets and operations, including all its residential aged care homes, home care services, and retirement villages in the Sydney metro and New England areas.

The deal includes at least four Sydney residential care homes and five Sydney retirement villages, as well as other regional NSW locations.

According to Anglicare Sydney’s CEO, Simon Miller (pictured), it will ensure a “bright future” for PAC residents, clients and staff, and give Anglicare a footprint in various locations where its presence is currently limited, such as Sydney’s Inner West.

“The entire aged care sector is facing significant headwinds. Presbyterian Aged Care is not immune and there was a need to find a way of ensuring the excellent services they have provided for decades were able to continue, to grow and to thrive.

“We are in the unique position to have the resources to invest in renewing the Presbyterian Aged Care portfolio over time while maintaining high quality service delivery and Christian ministry,” he said.

Olivia Wood, CEO of Presbyterian Aged Care (pictured), said the decision to divest was not taken lightly, and was made in the face of “challenges in the sector”.

“With Anglicare, we have a not-for-profit operator whose Christian culture and values are closely aligned to our own. We share a deep commitment to practical and pastoral care to the elderly, and I feel that our ministry and mission will not be lost in this arrangement.

“We both wish to ensure that there is a continuation of the excellent care and services for which PAC has become known and there is a recognisable legacy to be preserved. There is significant alignment in the mission focus of our two faith-based organisations, and we want residents, clients and staff to have confidence in the transition process,” she said.

Simon says Anglicare is “keen” to have PAC staff remain with the organisation after the transition, with all operational staff to be offered roles at the same or better conditions with benefits preserved.

“Residents, clients and their families can be assured that a change in ownership won’t affect their care: Anglicare will deliver the same high standards of care as you have enjoyed under PAC,” he said.

The two providers are currently undergoing a due diligence process, with the deal expected to complete in the first half of next year.
