Landowner Wolten Pty Ltd has been given approval to turn the 92-room CraigCare residential aged care home in Maylands, 4.5km northeast of Perth CBD, into a six-storey redevelopment with 138 rooms.
The WA Government’s Metro Inner North Joint Development Assessment Panel members unanimously approved revised plans on 4 July, which includes the City of Baywater’s Percent for Public Art, which requires a fee for large-scale projects to fund the installation of public art.
Wolten Pty Ltd must provide plans for public art valued at $400,000 before the lodgement of a building permit application.
The expansion includes a memory support unit on the ground floor for residents living with dementia, as well as 19 visitor bays including two ACROD parking bays for people with walking restrictions or sight issues and two short-term bays for drop off and pick up.
An integrated cafe and outdoor decking area will also be on the ground floor. There also will be a salon, a multi-functional training room, rooftop garden amenity area with a bar and lounge, internal and external courtyards, and landscaped terrace gardens.
CraigCare, which has two aged care homes in WA and five in Melbourne, VIC, has been providing care for seniors for more than 40 years.
