The small provider is set to begin construction on the $30 million project which has been in the works for seven years.
BESIX Watpac will build the vertical development at the site, and Palms director Lillian Stockall said the idea is to create a home with 24-hour care, rather than a hospital, with a focus on wellness and “reablement”.
“We focus on what somebody can do well – whatever is good at the time,” she told Port Macquarie News.
As we reported here, the development is set to complement Palms’ existing aged care home in Kirrawee – an hour south of Sydney’s CBD.
