The unexpected: crocodile appears under wheelchair ramp in NT aged care home

Staff at Ngukurr Aged Care, which is located in a remote Aboriginal community on the banks of the Roper River, found an eight-foot crocodile under the wheelchair access ramp.

In a Facebook post, Roper Gulf Regional Council wrote that Ngukurr Aged Care staff receive a “surprise visitor”.

“We think he heard about our impeccable Aged Care service through the grape vine, however, didn’t quite meet the age requirement.”

Authorities closed down the home while wildlife rangers tried – unsuccessfully – to capture and remove the unexpected guest. But by the next morning, the crocodile had disappeared.

Roper Gulf Regional Council wrote, “The Rangers came by to lure Ngukurr’s scaly resident home, so keep an eye out on the streets of Ngukurr today for our chompy friend.”

There’s always something unexpected happening in aged care – especially in the NT!
