Uniting opens new daycare centre at Westmead retirement village and aged care home

The NSW and ACT-based Not For Profit has expanded its ‘city for seniors’ at Westmead, 26km west of the Sydney CBD, with a new early learning centre.

The new service was officially opened on 11 January and can cater to a total of 75 children under the age of five.

Uniting says it will look to foster intergenerational relationships through programs between the children and aged care residents with a number of purpose-built spaces within the complex including a mud kitchen, chicken pen, and vegetable gardens.

Uniting’s Head of Early Learning Rod Nadwie-Smith praised the new service and programs.

“The Uniting Westmead site is dedicated to bringing different generations together to foster awareness, understanding and respect between each other whilst reducing social isolation of some of our most vulnerable Australians,” he said.
