The Aged Care Transition Taskforce has asked the Department of Health and Aged Care to reveal when any outstanding rules relating to the new Aged Care Act will be available for consultation at its meeting on 5 March 2025.
In November last year, we reported the Aged Care Minister Anika Wells had formed an Aged Care Transition Taskforce, with the aim of helping providers "manage implementation of the new Aged Care Act by 1 July 2025". The Taskforce meets fortnightly.
At its fifth meeting, the Taskforce also asked the Department of Health and Aged Care to provide a summary of changes to rules that have already been through consultation.
The Taskforce proposed establishing a subset of members to meet out of session to discuss the "implementation of care management" and to "troubleshoot solutions". 10% care management caps, and the ability for providers to pool care management, will be introduced from 1 July 2025.
Taskforce members were also given an update on the progress of the Department of Health and Aged Care's Digital Impact Assessment, which has been established to help the Department understand how the incoming changes will impact providers.
