A Development Application has been lodged to build an Over 50s village on a 24ha site, 2.5km south of Yeppoon, in Central QLD, that has been listed for sale for $4.3 million since November last year.
The application to Livingstone Shire Council is from Sargeant Planning on behalf of developers SYZ Land Pty Ltd, which was registered in February to a Brisbane address.
The developers are in discussion with “several seniors village operators who have expressed strong interest in developing the site as part of their portfolio of villages”.
The plan is for 291 units – with one-, two-, or three-bedrooms - to be built over six stages, with a clubhouse built in stage two and a primary road network by stage three. In addition, there will be facilities such as a pool, tennis court, and a bowls green.
The site is in Taroomball, 2.5km south of the Yeppoon CBD, and near Keppel Bay Estate.
Yeppoon has been a mecca for retirement village operators, including Capricorn Adventist Retirement Village, which has approval to expand to 250 units, while Oak Tree Retirement Village has 62 units.
In addition, developer Aaron Solito’s plans to build a $150 million secure gated community - Lifestyles By the Beach - has been approved at Zilzie, 23km south of Yeppoon.
