Derelict pub to be demolished to make way for $220M Ryman Healthcare development in Melbourne

1 min read

Despite COVID delays, NZ’s largest operator is continuing to progress on its major expansion in Australia and New Zealand with a local pub set to make way for a six-storey retirement village and aged care development.

A 2.2ha site formerly home to the Daiseys Pub, a bottle shop and garden supply shop in Ringwood East, 31km east of the Melbourne CBD, will be replaced with Ryman’s mix of independent apartments, serviced apartments and residential aged care and specialist dementia care.

In total, the development will feature 240 rooms and apartments, as well as assisted care facilities, basement carparking, a bowling green and open space areas.

Consultation on the development closed last week with construction now expected to start in late 2021.
