Forestville RSL Club in Northern Sydney latest attracted to seniors living to save its future

The club, established in 1959, is seeking a two-stage $77 million redevelopment of the entire 9014msq site for a new venue and 39 two- and three-bedroom independent living units (ILUs) in a low-density apartment complex.

Forestville RSL Club CEO Ian Thomson said they had looked at what other clubs locally were doing to create a more financial, operational and sustainable future for the club.

“Dee Why RSL has flagged a new development that will add significantly to their existing independent living complex, where they have a ‘wait list’ of over 200 people,” he said.

“The Builders Club development will see a new club and approximately 50 ILUs built on their existing landholding in Dee Why.

“These clubs join many other NSW Clubs who have embarked on, or who are currently navigating, similar business propositions as clubs seek to diversify their revenue streams away from a dependence on gaming.”

The development application designed by Quattro Architecture has been lodged with Northern Beaches Council. It went on exhibition yesterday (Monday).“
