Adelaide-based Living Choice, which has three more retirement villages in the pipeline, received approval on 20 July to build its first land lease lifestyle community in Mount Barker, about 33km from the state’s capital.
Owners Ian Tregoning (pictured left) and Graham Hobbs (right) will build a community of 215 two- and three-bedroom homes with a Country Club on 9.8ha of land adjacent to Glenlea Residential Estate. The SOURCE reported in March last year that Living Choice had bought the land from Axiom Properties.
It was to be Living Choice’s second LLC, but the first at Kincumber on the NSW Central Coast has been rejected twice. The group also owns and operate 10 retirement villages across three states.
“Mount Barker is expanding rapidly, with numerous sporting and recreational facilities under construction, and planning is well-advanced on a new town centre. The area has not lost its country charm, however,” Living Choice Group General Manager, Jason Sack, said.
“As our name implies, we are committed to offering ‘choice’ in seniors’ living options. This includes a choice of locations, home designs, prices, services and financial models. While not a retirement village, our new Lifestyle Community at Mount Barker will offer another quality living option for those aged 50 and over.”
Living Choice also owns numerous hotels in SA and QLD and two large residential developments on the Sunshine Coast, QLD.
Graham and Ian also have retirement villages at Parkwood on the Gold Coast, as well as at Galston and Dural in Sydney’s Northwest, in the pipeline.
Construction at Mount Barker is scheduled to start early next year.
