Lifestyle Communities’ newest venture at Cowes on Phillip Island, 125km south-southwest of Melbourne’s CBD, was launched last week with Managing Director James Kelly saying it is the “fastest selling project in our history”.
The South Melbourne-based Lifestyle Communities, which has 28 communities in planning, development or under management, is building 260 homes at Cowes and construction has begun.
The development application for Lifestyle Phillip Island was rejected by Bass Coast Shire Council in August last year.
“
Our planning permit was initially rejected by council based on a belief that we were too dense and did not have enough open space. We invited the council to visit our community at Lifestyle Berwick Waters and they were blown away with the quality of what we were doing, the clubhouse and also the homes,” James told The Weekly SOURCE. “Also, the realisation that Phillip Island needed this form of quality affordable housing. As a result, it went to the next council meeting and was unanimously voted through.
“We launched in December and it is now the fastest selling project in our history with already 25% of the project sold. We expect the first homeowners to be moving in early next year.”
Lifestyle Communities, which is celebrating its 20th year in operation, will provide motor boats for free use of homeowners when it is a seaside community. It now has eight boats in total.
