Noosa Council rejected GemLife’s $130 million proposal to build retirement village next to Cooroy Golf Club on Sunshine Coast

The Noosa Shire Council made the decision to reject the multi-million-dollar proposal after GemLife deferred the final debate to this month.

Council stuck to its original decision and rejected the development proposal which would have seen a 246-home retirement village being built next to the Cooroy Gold Club.

The proposed development would have included an $8 million redevelopment of the golf club along with membership for its residents.

The final refusal, which was unanimously agreed upon by councillors, was decided on the grounds that it didn’t align with zoning or local and state plans and it would have impacted on local agricultural land.

GemLife currently operate 10 lifestyle communities across the country, plus 9 more under its partner brand Living Gems.
