The City of Lake Macquarie, in Greater Newcastle, 162km north-northwest of Sydney, has had its bid to open its land for housing for seniors and disabled people approved by the NSW Government.
Lake Macquarie, which includes coastal suburbs such as Catherine Hill Bay, Caves Beach, Blacksmiths Beach and Redhead, has said the opportunity for housing for seniors and people with disability applies to a wider range of land zones, and is being permitted for all residential and business zones, except the B7 Business Park zone.
The State Environmental Planning Policy (Housing) 2021 Part 5 Housing for seniors and people with a disability, which superseded clause 7.12, allows more opportunity for housing for seniors and people with disability across NSW.
