The listed provider has scrapped plans for an approved 147-bed aged care home at Palm Beach, 18km from Surfers Paradise, despite spending $15 million acquiring the 3304sq m site from former motorcycle world champion Mick Doohan plus two adjacent blocks.
As we covered here, Regis had originally planned an 11-storey building for the site but this was cut down to eight storeys following public consultation.
An expressions of interest campaign being run by Cushman & Wakefield until 16 July with predictions the prestigious site will attract both Australian and overseas developers.
“We seldom get the opportunity to promote the features of such a large beachfront site at one the Coast’s premium locations,” Kyle Youngson said.
Mr Doohan had wanted to build a tavern on the site, but the local community objected to the plans and he opted to sell instead.
