Rockpool starts work on another 300-plus Brisbane aged care beds as Oxley home opens on Monday

1 min read

The private aged care operator founded by Bill Summers has begun construction at Hamilton Northshore, 8km northeast of the Brisbane CBD, and in August will start work at their site in Kedron, 7km north of the Brisbane city centre.

The development update comes as Rockpool is due to open its six-storey, 152-bed luxury Rockpool Songbird Oxley on Monday (31 March).

The planned Rockpool Hamilton Northshore home will be six storeys and 153 beds and is expected to open in early to mid-2026.

The development application for the 150-bed Rockpool Kedron has been approved, with the home set to open mid-2027. Rather than the high-rise layout of Rockpool's other homes, Kedron is located on a hill which means the building is no higher than three floors, but is staggered down the site (see main image).

The combined cost of both homes is expected to be $62 million.

For both projects, the builder is McNab and the architect/project manager is GJG Architects.

Rockpool Pelican Waters, with 150 beds, opened in October 2023. The following year, Masters Builders Queensland awarded builder McNab Best Aged Care Building in Queensland 2024 for the $44 million project.
