NZ-based operator Ryman Healthcare has been given the thumbs-up for a new $200 million village in Mulgrave, Victoria, less than 10 months after permit requests were lodged.
The continuum-of-care village in Melbourne’s southeast will include 105 independent living apartments and 70 independent living villas, as well as 54 serviced apartments and a 60-bed care centre with high, low, and specialist dementia care offerings.
When complete, it will have capacity for around 300 residents, and will feature amenities such as cinema, bowling green, salons, and gym.
According to Ryman Australia CEO Cameron Holland (pictured), the operator has enjoyed success with its continuum-of-care model, billed as “unique in the Australian market”.
“We’ve seen huge demand for this approach in Australia because it mirrors the reality of people’s aging journey,” he said.
Construction will begin early next year, with residents expected to move in from mid-2024.
