The Not For Profit has announced it will shut its 90-bed facility at Drummoyne (pictured), 6km from the Sydney CBD, in September – three months away – after exhausting “all possible options” to redevelop the buildings.
In a since-deleted post on Facebook, a spokesperson said: “(I)t has faithfully delivered a wonderful service experience with the support of the residents, families, staff, Sisters, volunteers and the local community,” the post states.
“However, over time our buildings and public spaces degrade and the designs which were at one time acceptable are now not fit for purpose.”
Residents will be relocated to its five other facilities – including the nearby The Village Drummoyne, Chipping Norton, Austral, Bexley and Allambie Heights – and as many Drummoyne staff redeployed “as possible” at other centres.
