1 min read

The Not For Profit states the redevelopment will not only honour the Estate’s rich Victorian heritage but also introduce modern, accessible spaces designed to meet the evolving needs of the Waverley community in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

Uniting wants to build 231 independent living units (ILUs) and 105 bed residential care facility, from the:

  • construction and operation of six ILU buildings up to seven-storeys, comprising 210 ILUs of which 16 will be affordable units;

  • adaptive reuse of three heritage buildings (Ellerslie, Banksia and Wych Hazel and Church Street Cottages) with 13 ILUs, with seven of them affordable units;

  • construction and operation of a seven-storey building comprising: a residential care facility (RCF) with 105 RCF beds and eight ILUs;

  • consulting rooms and staff administration areas,

  • ancillary land uses including a salon, cafe, and chapel, office, pool, cinema, clubhouse and respite day care centre, and

  • community uses including a seniors' gym.

“Since we last met with the community, we have refined our plans and maintained our strong focus on preserving the Estate’s historic features and buildings. We have also continued to address feedback on traffic, parking, and environmental preservation as we finalised the plans and submitted the State Significant Development Application to the NSW Government,” Simon Furness, Uniting NSW.ACT’s Director of Property and Housing, said.

"We deeply value community input and encourage residents to review the redevelopment proposal and share their comments during the public exhibition period.”
