St Vincent De Paul Society has announced it will no longer provide home care services in Victoria.
After a caller, Bruce, alerted ABC Radio Melbourne Mornings to the issue last week, they approached the Interim Group CEO of St Vincent De Paul Society Victoria, Paul Turton, who confirmed, “We are moving out of aged care (home care).”
Paul said the changes from the Royal Commission means higher quality services and systems are required, which involves a significant investment.
“Because we’re a small-scale provider it’s difficult for us to sustain that level of quality,” Paul told the ABC.
St Vincent’s currently has about 150 home care customers and will assist them through the “transition”.
“We have continued to provide support to our home care clients and will until June 30 and if required through our other channels will continue to provide ongoing assistance. We want to make sure everyone is supported through that transition in a really positive way,” Paul said.
In the wake of the Royal Commission reforms, local councils all around Victoria have been closing their home care operations.
