CEO Martin Bowles has stated that at the official opening of its $154 million retirement living, health and aged care precinct in Caulfield South, 10km south of Melbourne’s CBD.
Melbourne’s Catholic Archbishop Peter Comensoli was part of a 70-strong throng of dignitaries, including Calvary Ministries Chair, Michael Lee, to walk through the precinct at the opening.
Built on the site of the former Calvary Bethlehem hospital, Calvary Kooyong brings together 69 retirement living units in the Hyson Apartments, 83 contemporary residential aged care rooms in the Huntly Suites, Calvary’s in-home care, and Calvary Bethlehem’s existing specialist hospital and health service for people needing palliative care or living with progressive neurological conditions. It will also include a GP and other allied health services.
“The whole aim of Calvary Kooyong is to support our residents and patients to live well and in place as they age or as their care needs change. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved and thank everyone who has contributed and worked so hard to turn our vision into such a wonderful reality,” Martin said.
Calvary, run by Little Company of Mary Health Care, is a Catholic Not for Profit. It owns and operates 72 retirement communities and residential care communities, 14 public and private hospitals and 19 home care services. It employs over 18,000 staff and volunteers.
