Meeting on Fresh Hope Communities’ proposed Pendle Hill intergenerational community

Not For Profit Fresh Hope Communities is hosting a community drop-in session regarding the proposed redevelopment of its Pendle Hill retirement village, 29km west of Sydney’s CBD, tonight.

The event, held in partnership with planning consultants Ethos Urban, will be an opportunity for the local community to learn more about the planned redevelopment of the 7.3ha site, which if approved, will see an additional 564 dwellings (independent living & affordable units) and 50 aged care beds built on the site.

A Development Application (DA) will be lodged in the near future which will assessed by Cumberland City Council and then determined by the Sydney Central City Planning Panel.

The redevelopment of Fresh Hope Communities’ site will include:

  • 650 independent living units and affordable housing units
  • A 240-bed residential aged care facility
  • Approximately 755sqm of community facilities,
  • Approximately 1120sqm of non-residential floor space
  • Basement car parking
  • Approximately 51,709sqm (70% of the total site area) of open space (including publicly accessible communal and private open space)

A planning proposal lodged by Fresh Hope Communities in 2020 successfully amended the Cumberland Local Environmental Plan 2021 (CLEP 2021) in relation to the Fresh Hope Communities site in 2022.

“Stage 1 of this proposed site redevelopment marks the beginning of Fresh Hope Communities’ journey into delivering Pendle Hill as its flagship development, providing seniors housing, care, open space, community services and support, as well as employment opportunities for the local community,” said the Not for Profit.

“This Stage 1 Development Application only relates to the eastern portion of the site and does not include the entire Pendle Hill site, where the remaining area will continue to operate.”

There are 32 retirement living locations in Pendle Hill on villages.com.au.
