Regis Healthcare sells aged care home in Perth to property developer

1 min read

The residents of aged care home Regis Weston, located in the affluent suburb of Nedlands, Perth, will have to find a new home after the ASX-listed provider said it made the "difficult decision" to sell the 119-bed home's site to property developer Hesperia.

Last year, Regis Healthcare sold its Hollywood Retirement Village in Nedlands and the adjacent vacant land to the WA property developer for $53 million, with proceeds used to retire debt. The site is adjacent to Regis Weston.

The home is scheduled to close on 10 October 2024, leaving residents with less than three months to find new homes. Regis Weston staff may have the option to be redeployed to other Regis Homes.

Regis Nedlands is also adjacent to Regis Weston, and remains held by Regis Healthcare.

Regis Healthcare has four greenfield developments underway:

  • a 112-bed home at Camberwell, 10km east of the Melbourne CBD in Victoria;
  • a 123-bed facility at Toowong in central Brisbane;
  • a 105-bed home is underway at Belrose, 19km northeast of the Sydney CBD; and
  • a 110-bed facility at Carlingford, 22km northwest of the Sydney CBD.
