Calvary Health Care announces McKinsey & Co’s Damien Bruce to become National CEO

McKinsey & Company Senior Partner Damien Bruce has been appointed National CEO of Calvary Health Carethe Catholic health, home, and aged care provider.

He will start the new role on 1 September 2025.

The appointment follows the retirement of current National CEO Martin Bowles, announced in March.

Damien has more than 20 years' leadership experience at McKinsey & Company, most recently as Senior Partner heading up the Health, Social and Public Sector Practice for Asia. He has worked in Europe, North America and Asia, and is known for his expertise in strategy and transformation.

Damien has a long history supporting Not For Profits that improve access to health and aged care services. He has been on the Board of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Victoria) since 2013.

Under Martin's leadership, Calvary Health Care acquired ASX-listed Japara Healthcare and its 50 aged care homes and five retirement villages for $380 million.

Today, Calvary Health Care owns and operates 17 hospitals, 16 retirement villages, 57 residential aged care homes, and a home care service.
