Aveo Group rationalises NSW Northern Rivers region retirement village

1 min read

Aveo Group has listed its Tweed Fairways Retirement Village in NSW’s Northern Rivers region for sale.

The 4,481sqm retirement village in Tweed Heads, 830km north-northeast of Sydney, has 70 one-bed private rooms with ensuites, kitchenettes and laundries

The Aveo property was originally developed as a motel in 2007 before being converted by Freedom to a retirement living apartment complex.

“We have personally informed all residents and their families and worked closely with them to select their preferred home, with Ocean View in Banora Point (5.6km away) being preferred by most” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the decision to close Tweed Fairways Retirement Village follows a gradual decline in occupancy and feedback from prospective residents that it didn’t meet their lifestyle needs.

“Ageing Australians are looking for lifestyle-driven retirement options and it’s important that our communities are able to meet these needs and create vibrant spaces for residents to thrive,” the spokesperson said.

“Ocean View is a great example of this, and by merging the two communities, we will be able to offer our Tweed Fairways residents greater lifestyle opportunities and social connections.”

CBRE’s Will Carmen, Marcello Caspani-Muto, Adelaide O’Brien, Jimmy Tat and Mark Witheriff are managing the sale via an Expression of Interest campaign closing 15 November.

The impending disposal of Tweed Fairways Retirement Village follows similar action for Tanah Merah Village, a former Freedom community once known as Tree Tops, in Loganholme, 30km south of Brisbane, by the same CBRE team.
