Developer behind failed retirement village in Ocean Grove, VIC, has plans for site

1 min read

Plans to redevelop a 136-unit retirement village project that stalled about 17 years ago on the Bellarine Peninsula are taking place.

Serafino De Simone, partner at Seachange Village Nominees which owns the site, confirmed designs for the site were in the works and community consultation about the future of the site, which also incorporates the Ocean Grove Hotel, was expected to start next year.

Bellarine Peninsula is a haven for over 55s retirement living, with website villages.com.au listing 35 retirement villages.

However, it seems the new plans are not connected to retirement living. Its website, BuildOurVillage, states Seachange Village Nominees is planning “exciting new social and community facilities for Ocean Grove and the Bellarine including a new pub, big function spaces, a village green, wellness centre, tourism hotel integrated with an eco-residential community”.

The SOURCE: Over 55s accommodation is badly needed. What a wasted opportunity.
