The Not For Profit has lodged a planning proposal to turn its 84-year-old aged care home in Hunters Hill, 9km northwest of Sydney’s CBD, into a multi-storey co-located over 55s and aged care service.
After the success of redeveloping its site at Randwick in Sydney’s eastern suburbs to a retirement living complex M by Montefiore, the NFP wants to redevelop Hunters Hill for nine new buildings, ranging in height from two to six storeys, with 144 independent living units for people aged over 55.
The aged care home currently has more than 300 residents in low-care hostel and dementia-specific housing. If the plans are accepted, the aged care places would be cut to 194.
The plan has been lodged with Hunters Hill Council and will be considered by the Department of Planning as part of a gateway determination process. If supported by the department, Montefiore is expected to release a detailed development application for the site by the end of this year.
