It doesn't sound much but every bit helps. Developer and land owner Villa Life has submitted a $2.8 million plan to build seven Community Apartment Project (CAPs) homes at Tura Beach.
The two-storey unit block are for senior living - Tura Beach is a suburb of Merimbula, 350km south of Sydney’s CBD.
The proposed strata development is next to an existing Woolworths. The land is zoned to allow commercial and residential building.
Moving interstate
Bega Valley-based realtor for Coastal Property Group, Tammy Carroll, told The South Coast News the region needed more senior housing.
“I come across a lot of people who are semi-retired, looking to fully retire, but they have to move interstate because there’s really nowhere for them to downsize into senior unit style housing on the south coast.”
“I know a lot of elderly people in the area who go on waiting lists to get into the few senior housing areas we have because there just isn’t enough, which is why they move.”
