First sod turned on Government aged care home in regional Victoria

1 min read

The first sod has been turned on the Victorian Government’s $39.6 million, 36-bed aged care facility located on Robinson Street, Camperdown, 190km west of Melbourne.

The project is part of the Rural and Regional Sector Residential Aged Care Services Revitalisation Strategy aimed at replacing dated public sector aged care facilities with new, purpose-built homes.

The new Camperdown home will be based on the ‘small household’ model of care. The project will feature resident kitchen and dining areas, lounge, and break out spaces and sitting areas to maximise the views across the district’s well-known lakes and craters.

Other features include a hair and beauty salon and café, which will be open to the community.

The project is expected to be completed in mid-to-late 2025.
