Levande tops out Sydney vertical village, marking major milestone in $3B growth plan

1 min read

The village operator has officially topped out its landmark 28-storey vertical village, The Cambridge, in Epping, NSW, 28km northwest of the Sydney CBD – the tallest retirement living development in the state and a centrepiece in Levande’s $3 billion national expansion strategy.

The ceremony, held earlier this month, marks a key milestone in the construction of the 158-apartment independent living complex by Richard Crookes Construction, which also includes six floors earmarked for a proposed aged care facility, Epping Grand Care Community, to be operated by Opal HealthCare. The first residents are expected to move in later this year.

As we reported last week, CEO Kevin McCoy is now putting into action the $2 billion – now valued at $3 billion – investment pipeline first revealed in early 2024, with Swedish parent company EQT backing a major rollout of new developments and redevelopments across Australia.

Levande has acquired four additional development sites – one in Western Sydney, two in Melbourne’s southeast, and one on Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula – as part of this next wave of growth.

These are in addition to earlier land purchases at Bentleigh East in Melbourne and Highton in Geelong, as reported by The Weekly SOURCE.

Levande is also pushing ahead with major redevelopments at Castle Ridge in Castle Hill, Sydney, and Oak Grange in Brighton East, Melbourne, with the developments to deliver in total close to 1,700 new village homes.

The operator now has 59 retirement villages across Australia, providing community living and support services to more than 10,000 residents.
