NSW Government gives gateway approval to Montefiore to rezone its Hunters Hill site for co-located seniors living

After being rejected by Hunters Hill Council, the Not For Profit has received gateway approval to rezone its 40,000 sqm plus landholding in Sydney’s prestige suburb, 9km northwest of Sydney's CBD.

Located over 19 separate allotments Montefiore Hunters Hill currently has 18 independent living units and 334 aged care beds.

The Hunters Hill site has been owned and managed by Montefiore since 1939, with the site being expanded and modified over time. However, the facility is ageing, is not fit-for-purpose and does not meet the standards from prospective residents, propertied said in announcing the Gateway Approval

Montefiore wants to redevelop the site for nine new buildings, ranging in height from two to six storeys, with 144 independent living units for people aged over 55.  If the plans are accepted, the aged care beds would be cut from the current 334 to 194.

Montefiore will now be able to release a detailed development application for the site.
