One Nation Co-Founder David Oldfield has seen his bid to redevelop marital home into $17M seniors living facility fail

1 min read

David Oldfield, the former National Director of the One Nation political party from 1 April 1997 to 4 October 2000 and an ex-Sydney radio announcer, wanted to build 35 seniors living units in a redevelopment of his former marital home in Belrose, 19km northeast of Sydney’s CBD.

His plan for the 1ha site he bought for $1.89 million in 2011, was for six buildings including 35 units for seniors and people living with disabilities. There would have been 12 two-bedroom dwellings and 23 three-bedroom units.

NSW Government’s Northern Beaches Local Planning Panel agreed with a Northern Beaches Council assessment that the redevelopment be refused as it exceeded the maximum 8.5m building height development standard by more than 50%.

The panel also noted concerns about the scale and bulk of the development; potential soil contamination and a bushfire risk.
