The community owned Not For Profit South Australian aged care provider has officially broke ground on its multi-million-dollar expansion of its 53-bed Wheatfields aged care home in Freeling, 60km north of Adelaide, to add 20 beds and a cinema, café and landscaped barbecue area to the facility.
Wheatfields staff, residents and representatives from builder Mossop Construction came together for a sod-turning ceremony to officially commence the build.
The first stage of the project is expected to open in early 2025, with the next two stages scheduled to finish in 2026.
The project is being funded through $25.198 million in Government grants.
Wheatfields provides on-going accommodation and respite support.
