Cameron Holland, former Ryman Healthcare Australia CEO and now Hub Lead – Primary Care & Investments with Medibank-owned Amplar Health, delivered the 2025 LEADERS SUMMIT a hopeful future vision of aged care driven by productivity improvements across the whole healthcare sector.
He expects to see a "material shift" in the convergence between healthcare and aged care within five years with the timing dependent on the connectivity of patient information.
"The Government is spending billions over the next four years trying to connect all the health data across the whole sector, so that when you go to any GP, hospital, whatever, the data follows you all the way through," he told the audience of 570 executives.
"Whether that happens or not, who knows. But that's what they're thinking about.
"If that does manifest, it will absolutely impact everybody in this room," he said.
Policy makers are already moving from siloed policy changes to a more connected, wider health system, and the Federal Government is interested in hearing solutions to sector-wide, not individual company solutions, Cameron said. The Retirement Living Council's Shared Care model is a good example
"In the last couple of years the Department of Premier and Cabinet is beginning to connect the dots between healthcare and aged care services. They are starting to think more holistically," he said.
The introduction of liquidity ratios in retirement villages is another less positive instance.
The SUMMIT program was carefully curated to help guide delegates through the significant challenges and opportunities the sectors face. We at DCM have decided to make 23 of the presentation videos publicly available to support the sector’s leaders in their strategic development.
They are now available to view on The Weekly SOURCE website: theweeklysource.com.au/leaders-summit-2025.
The slides for each presentation have been emailed to each delegate.
