Vic Govt's $62.8 million redevelopment of aged care facilities at Mansfield District Hospital

A new 30-bed residential aged care facility is to replace Buckland House Nursing Home and the 42-bed Bindaree Retirement Centre will be refurbished at the hospital in the small town, 180km northeast of Melbourne's CBD.

A dementia friendly environment will be created, and residents will have their own private, single bedrooms with ensuites. The homes will be built according to the ‘small household’ model, each home will have its own dedicated kitchen, dining, lounge and break-out sitting areas.

The project is part of the State Government’s Rural and Regional Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services Revitalisation Strategy, which will progressively transform existing or develop new purpose-built residential aged care facilities across the state.

A W Nicholson has been appointed builder. Construction works is expected to begin in late 2024, with the redevelopment due to be completed in late 2027.
