The shortage of aged care beds and push to keep older Australians out of hospitals and emergency departments will mean that the boards and management teams of retirement village operators will need to scale up their clinical and organisational governance quickly.
Anita Courtney, Aged Care and Home Care Principal at law firm Russell Kennedy, told DCM Group's recent Health Metrics breakfast on Hospital in the Home that incidents are already happening as the line between independent living and care is disintegrating.
