NSW Police received multiple reports of alleged break and enters at Walka Grange Lifestyle Village between Sunday, 21 July 2024 and Monday 5 August 2024.
On Monday, 5 August, police were called to one of the homes in the over 55s gated community of 182 two- and three-bedroom homes after they were told a 64-year-old man was allegedly threatened with a knife and told to hand over property. He refused and the man fled.
Following extensive inquiries, a search warrant was executed at a home in Rutherford, on Sunday, 18 August 2024. During the search, police located and seized a number of items believed to have been allegedly stolen during the incidents.
Police arrested 29-year-old Nathan Edwards in Rutherford on Monday, 19 August, about 6.20pm, and charged him with:
- Three counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - people there; and
- Two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - armed, and robbery armed with offensive weapon.
