Not For Profit Mercy Health, which operates 30 aged care homes across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, has acquired two residential aged care homes from Bentley Wood Health and Aged Care in Yarrawonga and Myrtleford in northeastern Victoria.
Together, the homes have more than 200 residents.
“Expanding to Yarrawonga and Myrtleford is an exciting next step in Mercy Health’s mission to provide compassion and care to more communities across Australia," Mercy Health Chief Executive of Healthy Ageing, Clare Douglas, said.
“We are grateful to the Bentley Wood team for entrusting Mercy Health to continue providing essential aged care services in Yarrawonga and Myrtleford, and we look forward to working with staff, residents of the homes, and their families to ensure a smooth transition to Mercy Health.”
Bentley Wood Health & Aged Care was founded in 1999 by registered nurses Terry and Dawn Hall and Brian and Helen Fitzpatrick, all registered nurses who have been involved in providing aged care services for more than 40 years. The providers commenced operating an aged care home in Myrtlewood in 2001, expanding the home from 60 to 81 places in 2014. The Yarrawonga home began operations in 2006 and was expanded from 100 to 130 places in 2015.
Mercy Health's 2023-27 Strategic Framework noted the organisation plans to double the size of its residential aged care, home care, and seniors living services within the next five years, with growth in NSW a particular focus.
