Odyssey private aged care dedicates floor to dementia

1 min read

Private aged care pioneer Phil Usher is devoting a purpose-build floor for people living with dementia on the new three-storey tower at his lifestyle community in Robina on the Gold Coast, QLD.

Memory Lane is on the second level of the new tower, called Waikiki, along with an additional 42 apartments.

“Whether it’s one person in a marriage or both, it can be an enormous benefit in keeping a couple together, as familiarity often equates to calmness,” said Phil (pictured).

“It is set up similar to a share house or quality university shared accommodation, where you have your own space but share a lounge, living areas, kitchen (under supervision) and more. It is just like a home, rather than a facility.

“Memory Lane means that no matter how a resident’s dementia progresses, they will be looked after in an environment that prioritises their safety and dignity.”

Memory Lane is staffed around the clock by a specialised and experienced team.
