The approval by the Hunter & Central Coast Regional Planning Panel of a $37 million senior housing complex at Mount Hutton shows the demand for such housing on suitable land.
The proposal – by development advisers Baini Design on behalf of new developer Grand Hutton Developments – is for 72 independent living units with commercial spaces at the frontage.
It is the single most valuable development application in Lake Macquarie in the past 12 months, Lake Macquarie City Council Manager Development Assessment and Certification Liz Lambert said.
“Developers, investors and, ultimately, families, are recognising the enormous benefits of this part of our city,” she said.
Minor parts of the development, which is on a 16,800sqm site, exceed the height control in the Lake Macquarie Local Environmental Plan by a maximum of 9.96%.
