Clubhouses are getting bigger, with more facilities, and catching the eye of potential clients.
They are being positioned on the best site in the community, be it in the middle or on the top of a vertical tower to capture the views.
Adrian Puljich’s GemLife is building its biggest-ever clubhouse, with three levels, at its Gold Coast land lease development.
“Our brief was to create a premium high-street village feel and sense of community. The pinnacle is undoubtably the rooftop entertaining space, which will be a place for residents to relax or socialise while taking in panoramic views from North Stradbroke to Burleigh,” said GemLife’s architect Jared Poole, of Jared Poole Design.
“On the top level, because of the position and the outlook, there was the opportunity to include a sky bar. We wanted to create a circular element to the building that almost cantilevered off the side, so it really felt like it was on the edge of the building.”
From the sky bar, Jared said the building would open to a roof terrace with a resort-style pool with sunken
lounges and fire pits.
“It will be stunning visually but will also have nice sound and movement of water – all the elements you’d expect in a resort environment.”
Aura Holdings’ Co-Founder Tim Russell told SATURDAY a point of difference in its brand is its community facilities. Aura has always been known for its wine rooms.
“When you add up those elements, the value proposition is there for making the move into retirement versus residential, and we have seen that at both North Kirra and at (The Avenue) Maroochydore where we had a number of residents who sold out of residential apartments to move into the retirement village,” he said.
In another story published today (please insert url), Karadis Corp is putting a community centre at the top of its new block of 70 apartments at its coastal lifestyle village, Avista Glenelg, in Adelaide, SA.
The 230sqm community centre will feature a kitchen, as well as dining and entertaining areas for residents and their guests to enjoy sweeping panoramic hills and ocean views.
In May, Stockland’s Halcyon Nirimba opened a 660sqm clubhouse by award-winning architects DC8 Studio as its centrepiece. The facility includes amenities such as outdoor verandas; indoor cinema; bowling green; indoor pool, spa, and gym; and alfresco entertainment area.
Like the camera quality decides which smartphone to buy, it is clear the clubhouse is taking centre stage in a client’s choice of retirement living accommodation.
