Regional Victorian aged care home shuts its doors – despite offers of takeovers

1 min read

The local paper is reporting that the 40-bed DP Jones aged care home in Murchison (pictured), 167km from Melbourne, is set to close despite the Federal Government promising the facility – which is the town’s largest employer – would stay open.

Some aged care providers told the Shepparton News say they submitted expressions of interests to take over the home, but never received a response from administrators.

However, we spoke to SV Partners director Richard Cauchi who said none of the offers delivered cash.

Locals are concerned the closure will also threaten the viability of their medical centre, pharmacy and community centre.

A sign of what could be set to come.
