Bryan Dorman to retire 30 years after founding Australia’s only remaining ASX-listed provider Regis Aged Care

1 min read

Bryan, who founded Regis Aged Care with Ian Roberts in the regional Victorian town of Mildura in 1992, has announced he will retire from his role as Non-Executive Director, effective 26 November 2024, when the company holds its Annual General Meeting.

After more than 30 years with the provider, Bryan is looking to spend more time with his family and to focus on philanthropy.

"I'm honoured to have been involved with Regis from the start, and I am confident in our future and our ability to stay at the forefront of aged care services in Australia," Bryan said in a statement.

Regis Aged Care merged with Retirement Care Australia in 2007, forming one of the largest aged care providers in the country with 37 homes and 3,600 beds. Bryan was Executive Chairman of Regis Aged Care until 2008, and then Non-Executive Chairman until the company floated on the ASX in 2014.

Today, Regis Aged Care is the only pure aged care company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Bryan was National President of the then-peak body Aged Care Association of Australia between 2004 and 2012.

"Bryan played an important role in our successful merger with Retirement Care Australia and spearheaded the listing of Regis. Regis continues to leverage that foundational work," said Graham Hodges, Regis Chairman.

In May, The Weekly SOURCE reported Bryan had sold a 5.81% stake in the company, reducing his stake from 27.2% to to 21.4%, and delivering him around $68 million.

Bryan was also one of the orchestrators of Regis' failed bid for Washington H. Soul Pattinson in 2021.

Today, Regis has 64 aged care homes with around 7,000 places, providing services to more than 9,000 older Australians in total through its residential aged care, home care, day therapy, respite hubs, and retirement villages in all states.
