Amplar Home Health launches AI-driven Tissue Analytics platform to improve wound care

1 min read

The Medibank-owned home care provider has introduced the Net Health® Tissue Analytics platform, designed to transform wound care management for Amplar patients.

The app turns iPads and smartphones into imaging platforms, enabling its clinicians to utilise artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision for advanced wound assessment.

The Tissue Analytics app accurately calculates the dimensions and colour composition of various wound types, helping healthcare staff to track healing progress more precisely.

Clinicians can also take photos and videos of the wound, allowing the computer vision technology to calculate the surface area and volume in millimetres and streamlining wound management for patients in their homes. In addition, some patients are being educated on how to photograph their own wounds.

“This will enable us to provide better support for patients who are living in remote areas and prioritise and expedite care for patients in critical need,” said Amplar Home Health General Manager, Kylie Mayo.

In the last 12 months, Amplar Home Health facilitated more than 97,000 visits for wound care, many patients with chronic or complex wounds requiring multidisciplinary approaches. The provider also delivers SA Health’s My Home Hospital service, which sees patients in the community and in residential aged care treated in virtual ‘wards’ via in-person and remote monitoring, and is seeking to expand its primary care footprint under former Ryman Healthcare Australia CEO Cameron Holland.

With the new Support at Home program predicted to increase the demand for clinical care services, Amplar’s investment in this new app appears to be well-timed.
