NSW and Southeast QLD aged care provider Catholic Healthcare has appointed the former head of Healthdirect Australia, Karen Borg, as its CEO.

Ms Borg, who is on the board of ASX-listed SUMNOMED, was Interim Chair of the Australian Vaccine Response Alliance. She was CEO of national public health information service Healthdirect Australia from April 2019 to December 2020. Previously she was CEO of the NSW Department of Industry’s Jobs for NSW for two years and six months and President, Asia Pacific for ResMed from January 2012 to July 2015.

“Karen’s deep experience in understanding customers’ needs will lead Catholic Healthcare to further develop our focus on residents, clients, patients and their carers, and support our desire to be responsive and innovative,” said Catholic Healthcare Chairman Stephen Teulan.

Ms Borg, who starts her role on 30 August, replaces Belinda Moyes who was appointed interim CEO in June following the resignation of Managing Director David Maher, who left at the end of May after 10 years in the role and 20 years with the organisation.
