Australian Unity made a Profit After Tax of $45.7 million for FY22, representing a 39% increase on last year, but still below 2018 and 2019 when the world was still free of the COVID-19 virus .
The health, wealth, and care organisation revealed in its FY22 Financial Report that its Home Care Services division had adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) of $38.1 million, a gain of $8.7 million on previous 12 months.
Home Care Services experienced a 7.8% increase in revenue to $347 million.
The results were “achieved through home care packages customer growth and cost savings in salary and wages expense through improvements in safety performance, injury management, and care worker utilisation,” said Australian Unity in its Investor Update Presentation.
It had 10,043 Home Care Packages (HCP) under its management, which equates to approximately 2.6 million hours of care delivered by 2,953 care workers. It serviced another 1,219 HCP during the year. Australian Unity also operates Aboriginal Home Care and Disability Services.
Australian Unity also reported occupancy levels at its 10 integrated retirement villages and residential aged care and 13 standalone retirement villages, comprising 2,664 independent living units and 1,007 aged care beds, were at 93% and above 94% respectively.
